Natural herbal formula for Menstrual relief

ANGELICA SINENSIS (DONG QUAI)
This herb has been used for thousands of years in the treatment of female complaints. Its reputation in China is perhaps second only to ginseng. Angelica root extracts have demonstrated uterotonic activity in animals, causing an initial increase in uterine contraction followed by relaxation. Angelica species have demonstrated significant pain relieving activity as well. In one study, angelica extract exhibited an effect 1.7 times greater than that of aspirin.
PAEONIA LACTIFLORA (PEONY ROOT)
In China, peony is often used in combinations with angelica in the treatment of female complaints. It has yielded similar results in experimental studies to those of angelica. However, its relaxing effect on uterine muscle is more pronounced.
VIBURNUM PRUNIFOLIUM (BLACK HAW BARK)
This herb contains several compounds which relax the uterus. Viburnum has a long history of use in the treatment of menstural crams and is recognized as a uterine sedative.
CAULOPHYLLUM THALICTROIDES (BLUE COHOSH, SQUAW ROOT)
This herb was widely used by the American Indians for a variety of female conditions including the relief of menstrual cramps. The plant has antispasmodic activity on the uterus.
CIMICIFUGA RACEMOSA (Black cohosh)
This herb was also widely used by the American Indians and later by American colonists.
ALETRIS FARINOSA (UNICORN ROOT, STAR GRASS)
Like the above herbs, Aletris has a long historical use in the treatment of dysmenorrhea and confirmed sedative action on the uterus.
