NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE ATHLETE

Larry Scott, a truly world class athlete, always maintained that body building was 85% nutrition.

Every athlete whether male or female is constantly looking for the winning edge, as the elderly seeks the fountain of youth. For many years the athlete worked on size, bulk, speed, and technique depending on his or her sport to obtain the best athletic conditioning but now new research is putting more emphasis on nutrition.

Nutrition may hold the key to the achievement of performing at the optimum peak performance.

Placing the emphasis on nutrition to reach the ultimate performance does not suggest that training programs be neglected, but the best program will only be as good as the body is able to respond. Every cell and metabolic function depends on nutrition in the way of vitamins, minerals, bio-chemical extracts and special foods provided by nature to ensure that nutrients are available to maintain the optimum health necessary to perform beyond competitive levels.

Not just any old junk food can be eaten without paying the penalty of poor performance. It offers little and in many cases no nutritional value to hard working muscles. The athlete cannot afford to eat the average western diet, loaded with fat, sugar, chemicals, and salt.

A supplement of special foods can provide that extra boost that can make the difference between an average and a world class athlete. The following list of super nutrients have a reputation among the top athletes of being able to give them that leading edge.

L-Lysine

L-Arginine

L-Ornithine

Carnithine

Inosine

Potassium Aspartate

Magnesium Aspartate

Siberian Ginseng

Bee pollen

Sarsaparilla

Natural Metabolites

Octocosanol

Cytochrome C

Beta Sitosterol

RNA/DNA

Several free form amino acids (L-lysine, L-Arginine, L-Ornithine) are classified as growth hormone activators which stimulate muscle growth and strength. They burn fat for energy to reduce body fat.

A complete amino acid complex is used for support and a major key to rebuilding muscle tissue broken down during heavy intensive training sessions. Free form amino acids keeps the blood protein levels at their maximum without hindering any other metabolic function because they go directly into the blood stream, by passing the digestive process and leaving no metabolic wastes. They are essential for tissue growth and repair.

Included in the amino acid complex is L-Carnitine. Studies show that it strengthens muscles, increases energy levels and lowers blood fats.

Bee pollen contains an excellent source of all major proteins and nutrients and rejuvenating factors such as sterines, steroid hormones substances and gonadotropic hormones. These are plant hormones which duplicate the hormones secreted by the Pituitary to stimulate the reproductive glands. Track coach Tom McNab issued pollen to all his athletes and found it to be the most effective vitalizing food available. He also said that his underweight athletes noted an immediate rise in body weight and lean muscle mass

Sarsaparilla - Professor Russel E. Marker and Dr. Aval Rohrmon of Pennsylvania State college were the first to discover the hormones in sarsaparilla. The first hormone found by the two research scientists was the male hormone testosterone. Progesterone and coritn are two other hormones that have been extracted from the root of this plant. In a separate test Dr. Eric Solmo, a Hungarian scientist, discovered a folk "remedy" used by the Indians living in Mexico who used a plant for restoring physical strength and sexual function. After exhaustive studies, with the folk remedy which he learned was sarsaparilla root, his findings were the same as those of Rohrmon and Marker. Dr. Solmo conducted thousands of laboratory tests on animals and men, and proved beyond a doubt that sarsaparilla hormones do work to restore physical strength.

Octocosanol is the active energy- releasing factor found in wheat germ oil. It improves endurance, speeds reaction time, increases glycogen levels for muscle fuel and has a sparing effect on oxygen.
